Sundries
Cellophane / Tissue paper / Raffia / Hat box
How I Made It
Strip all stems that will fall below the water line so that no foliage or thorns can contaminate the water.
Start constructing the posy by placing foliage in your hand spiralling in one direction. Start adding the flowers intermittently while continuing to add the foliage still making sure the stems are spiralling in one direction. (Crossed stems don't give as pleasing finished design).
When you have added all the flowers and almost finished the posy add long stems of rubus, ivy or passion vine winding it around the outside of the design.
Tie off firmly using jute or raffia.
Cut a square of cellophane and, making sure the stems are cut to the correct height to suit your hat box, fold the cello around and up the stems so it will be water tight. Ensure that you only use the original tie point and that the cello tie doesn't migrate above or bellow this point.
Secure the cello with some tape and then finish firmly with raffia.
Next fold the tissue in half like a handkerchief point. Arrange about 3 pieces of tissue around the finished posy and place in the hat box
Mix flower food with water and fill the cello with the solution by carefully pouring into the centre of the posy.
CAUTION- Do not overfill as this will spoil the tissue and hat box.
Design Suitability
A gift for any occasion, who wouldn't want to receive such a lovely thing.
To a child or from a child, finish with a satin ribbon and forget the box. Lovely, Enjoy.
