Curled Calla Lily Garland

How I Made This

Soak the frame in a flower food and water solution. Do not over soak as this loosens the foam from the base. Place the moss intermittently onto the base leaving 50pence size holes for the flowers and foliage. Attach the moss with green wires cut into hair pins or German pins.

Add the aspidistra leaves.

By splitting the leaves down the centre vein and using German pins its easy to create interesting movement and curves. Cover as much of the remaining foam as possible without filling all the holes.

Next, place the callas around the frame leaving them long and loose.

Place the ends of the steel grass in ones and twos near or into the same areas as the callas.

Then carefully bend the grass back into the frame taking the callas with it - you may need to secure the grass with a hair/German pin.

Wind and curl any loose callas into the grass.

The clematis vine is added last to accentuate the circular design and for texture.

Design Suitability.

Add a candle and place on a large platter for a table or font arrangement.

For a funeral - the circular design is a ring which symbolises eternal remembrance.

For a door garland - add some evergreen foliage and festive ribbon for Christmas, or raffia for the autumn. (it's a must to use cold glue on all the stems for the door garland designs to make them hold better.)
