Classic Modern Arrangement
What I Used
- Coloured plant pot
- Water retaining foam
- 2 oriental lilys
- Twigs (any or mixed twigs)
- Steel or bear grass
- Fat moss
- Leaves for curling
How I Made This
Soak the foam in flower food and water solution. Place the foam firmly into the container so no foam is visible above the rim.
Add the twigs at varying heights thinking about where the lilys might open.
Place the first lily into the foam approx 2" below the top of the tallest twig making sure that the stem is a least 2" into the foam. Then add the second lily bellow the lowest flower head of the first lily. Again ensure that all stems are at least 2" into the foam, this is primarily so the stems are secure and also to ensure the flowers can drink properly.
Next curl the leaves using any method you're comfortable with, (staple, rip, tape or wire).
Place the curled leaves around the bottom of the twigs and lilys.
Steel grass is the curled into the twigs for interest and movement, (the arrangement stands well without this also), you can use as much as you like for the desired effect.
Fill any gaps and hide all the mechanics with the flat moss.
